Open to all secondary school aged pupils

Why indoor rowing?

  • Perfect for cross-training or those new to exercise


  • Go Race Indoor and Go Race Indoor Rowability
  • Complete as a class or with smaller targeted groups
  • Runs from 4 January - 8 April 2022
  • Two different participation options: Crew & Cox
  • British Rowing School Virtual Distance Challenges available


Use your Young Leaders to:

  • Set up the rowing machine and/or laptops
  • Time and process these results
  • Encourage and motivate others as they row


1. Go Race Indoor

For School Years 7 -13

Pupils row for the amount of time based on their year group and record the distance travelled

2. Go Race Indoors Rowability

For School Years 7-13

Choose the Rowability format that best suits your young people's needs.

Pupils row for the time based on their year group and record the distance travelled.

2 different participation routes for both Go Race Indoors and Rowability

Crew: Pupils use their first result and their personal best to enter 'most improved'

Cox: Pupils use their personal best to score

3. Go Race Indoors Relay

Teams of 4 to cover 2,000m in the fastest time possible, the team to choose their change over point.

How to enter

Next Steps

A selected number of pupils will be invited to attend the Indoor Rowing Event at the Dorset School Games Summer Festival in June (more details to follow).

Additional Resources

In 2020/21 we were not able to provide any physical inter or county school games events.

The Dorset School Games team, School Games Organisers and other partners worked together to create a virtual activities for all school aged children across Dorset to take part in, to remain active, continue competing and keep smiling.
