The velodrome is part of the wider activity at Slades Farm, which is a public green space with pitches, skate park and dog agility.
The velodrome has two main aims:
- To provide an accessible, safe, traffic free environment to introduce people to cycling. Everyone can enjoy and learn how to handle their bike so they can confidently use it. There is also a tarmacked cycle track around the wider park at Slades Farm which can be utilised.
- To allow those who wish to become track cyclists the benefits of a superb facility that enables participation from beginners right through to the competitive level. There are some excellent local cycling clubs who play the central role in encouraging this development.
