We organise and provide a range of free physical activity training courses suitable for health and community organisations. These training sessions will help you learn how physical activity can be used to impact on a range of health outcomes in various settings.

Physical Activity for the Prevention and Management of Long-term Conditions
Delivered by expert Physical Activity Clinical Champions this course covers evidence-based information of the value of physical activity for the prevention and treatment of chronic disease to increase the knowledge and confidence of healthcare professionals to deliver brief advice on physical activity to patients.
These free, peer to peer 1-3 hours online training sessions can be delivered to groups of healthcare professionals at a date and time to suit local needs e.g. Vocational Training Schemes, Protected Learning Time, lunchtime learning etc.
Who should attend?
This course is aimed at healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care.

Active Dorset Supporting Individuals to Move More
A condensed half-day course packed with information to help you encourage others to move more, including guidelines for physical activity levels, the health benefits of moving more and influencing others using behaviour change theory.
Key topics covered include:
- Definitions and guidelines for physical activity levels
- The health benefits of moving more
- Supporting others using behaviour change theory
- Facilitated discussions to identify opportunities to embed physical activity in your working practices, policies and procedures

Duration: 3 hrs (can be delivered online)

Level 2 RSPH Award in Encouraging Physical Activity
Learners will increase their knowledge and understanding of why individuals may not actively participate in physical activity, the health benefits of physical activity and how individuals can be helped and supported to improve their health by increasing their level of physical activity.
To achieve this qualification a candidate must:
1. Understand the health benefits of physical activity
2. Understand factors that affect an individual's participation in physical activity
3. Know how to encourage individuals to increase their level of physical activity
Assessment is through a workbook that can be completed after the one-day course, in the learners own time.
Who should attend?
This qualification is for any individuals who are interested in helping others develop a healthier lifestyle by encouraging physical activity. Suitable for community activity providers, local authority workers, social prescribers, and health coaches.

Level 2 RSPH Award in Supporting Behaviour Change
This two-day course provides learners with the knowledge, confidence and skills to support individuals who are thinking of making a health behaviour change.
It covers the importance of effective communication in building rapport with individuals, how to work with individuals to increase their motivation to make a behaviour change and the factors that hinder and facilitate that change.
Assessment is through a multiple choice examination delivered at the course venue.
Who should attend?
This qualification is suitable for any individuals who work in a behaviour setting including social prescribers, health coaches, health advisors, and cancer support workers.
