Physical Activity Strategy

Engaging all stakeholders across the County in a conversation about how we take a systems thinking approach to tackling inactivity in Dorset.

Summary

We are delighted to be working with our ICS partners, leading the development of a physical activity strategy for the county. This strategy will seek to engage all stakeholders across Dorset in a conversation about how we take a systems thinking approach to tackling inactivity in Dorset.

Planned outcome of the strategy

The strategy will seek to set out an ambitious plan for tackling inactivity levels at scale and our shared ambitions to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Dorset through increased physical activity. We want to highlight the role we all have in tackling inactivity, making it everyone's business.

How we will develop the strategy

We will be asking senior leaders across our system about what would it take to bring about a population scale change in physical activity levels in your part of the system? We will establish system wide collaboration and collective action against set of priorities rooted in a whole systems change approach. These priorities will be which will be identified through the JSNA panels and will seek to achieve increased physical activity at scale.

Progress to date

Physical activity has been identified as a priority by both Health and Wellbeing Boards (BCP and Dorset) and we are working jointly with Public Health Dorset following the JSNA approach to develop the strategy.

Dates for the JSNA panels are currently being agreed, along with a stakeholder and senior leaders invitation list. As the development of this work continues we will update this page with further information.
