Active Dorset are delighted to announce that our work with the Dorset Health Villages has been Highly Commended in the Most Effective Contribution to Clinical Redesign at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023, recognising the outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS.
Winners and Highly Commended projects across 21 categories were unveiled during a ceremony at Evolution London, on 23 March 2023, hosted by comedian Joel Dommett. The event was attended by over 900 guests, bringing together national healthcare leaders and professionals from both the NHS and private sector as well as figures from non-clinical backgrounds to celebrate the crucial contributions of the private and third sector within the NHS. The evening celebrated the achievements of a total of 141 finalists.
The Health & Care Act cites collaboration and partnership working as the key success factor for the future sustainability of the NHS. The HSJ Partnerships Awards are therefore not just a celebration of success stories but also a platform to shape the future of our integrated health and care system.
The prestigious award programme, now in its sixth year, recognises and honours the most effective partnerships, innovative projects and collaborations in the UK health system. Entering and being honoured with a Highly Commendation shines a light on Active Dorset's role in strengthening the healthcare system. This accolade also validates
the importance of this project and gives the team the confidence to continue its tireless work. The judging panel comprised a diverse range of 90 highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector.
Working in partnership with NHS Dorset, Dorset County Hospital, University Hospitals Dorset and LiveWell Dorset, Active Dorset have worked to embed lifestyle support and messaging into two new Outpatient assessment Centres at Beales in Poole and South Walks House in Dorchester.
The centre's opened in effort to minimise the long elective care waiting lists which arose as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Many patients attending these centres benefit from health behaviour change in order to help manage existing conditions, prevent co-morbidities and promote healthy living ahead of elective surgery in effort to enhance patient outcomes.
Charlie Coward, Deputy CEO at Active Dorset comments, "We are delighted to have been Highly Commended in Most Effective Contribution to Clinical Redesign, recognising the collaborative efforts and dedication of our team who have integrated lifestyle advice to support better health and wellbeing and patient outcomes at Dorset Health Villages. We are committed to delivering improved outcomes for patients, and to be included in the category among the other incredible nominees is a real achievement. This is award does not just belong to Active Dorset, it is testament to the innovative partnership working of both our team and our partners at NHS Dorset, NHS Dorset County Hospital Foundation Trust, LiveWell Dorset and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. We have a continued commitment to continuing to work together in 2023/24 on more exciting opportunities to embed prevention in health and care services".
