Growing number of schools participated in national Active Lives Survey for Children & Young People

Congratulations to the growing number of schools that have participated in the national Active Lives Survey for Children and Young People this year! It is our best year of local engagement in the survey to date!

52 schools in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole (BCP) and the wider Dorset have been selected to participate in the Survey by Sport England, in 2021-22. School selections are made in partnership with the Department of Education, the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Department of Health. So far, 19 schools have completed the survey and a further 20 schools have opted in!

The Government has enabled children and young people to share their physical activity habits and attitudes with schools, in a confidential school report. These reports are designed to help school leaders, local authorities, and partners, to understand how active and physically literate their children and young people are. With this knowledge, policy and practice can change, interventions can be created and ultimately, all will be for the benefit of the physical health and wellbeing of children and young people in BCP and Dorset.

In the autumn term, four schools engaged in the survey. Each one received their confidential school report in March. Those schools are St Edwards School, Oakhurst First School, Sturminster Newton High School and Atlantic Academy. A further 25 will receive their reports in June.

Next term, Sport England has selected the following schools to engage in the survey:

  • Highcliffe St Mark Primary School
  • St James' Church of England Primary Academy
  • Christchurch Junior School
  • Twynham School
  • Highcliffe School
  • Parkfield School
  • Charmouth Primary School
  • Conifers Primary School
  • Witchampton Church of England First School
  • Verwood Church of England First School
  • The Thomas Hardye School
  • Lockyer's Middle School
  • All Saints' Church of England Academy
  • Dumpton School

Please do get in touch if your school is on the list, or if it's not, you're welcome to opt in!
