Slades Park in Bournemouth is celebrating the launch of its latest facility enhancement for local residents, a FIFA standard floodlit 3G football pitch. Active Dorset, in partnership with Glenmoor and Winton Academy, Football Foundation and the Talbot Village Trust, have financed the new pitch which is the first of its type in Bournemouth.
The official opening of the 3G pitch, which will take place on the Academy site at 12pm Friday 20th December, will be led by Harry Redknapp.
Martin Kimberley, Active Dorset Chief Executive, commented; "Having this 3G pitch at Slades Park is a major advance in developing opportunities for everyone I would like to thank all of our partners who have helped us in acquiring this facility."
The Academy and local community have enthusiastically grasped the opportunity that an all-weather, year-round, high quality playing surface brings, and we are delighted that Bournemouth Electric FC, Bournemouth University, AFC Bournemouth Community Trust and Bournemouth Collegiate Community Club are all partner clubs in the project. This facility significantly enhances the playing opportunities for all.
