Tri Summer offers people the chance to sign up for three different distances – Sprint, Standard and Middle – which they can complete in their own time throughout a six-week period.
Following on from the success of Tri January, the new campaign sets participants the challenge of working towards completing a triathlon distance in smaller chunks which will fit in with their daily lives.
The Tri Summer challenges are:
- Tri Summer Sprint – 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
- Tri Summer Standard – 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run
- Tri Summer Middle – 1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21km run
Once participants have completed their chosen challenge, they will have a chance to put their training into practice by taking part in a number of Tri Summer festival events that will be hosted up and down the country. There will also be an exclusive Tri Summer training bundle on offer for participants who are ready to take the next step and become a member of the British Triathlon Family.
Jenny Vincent, British Triathlon's Head of Participation, said: "We're excited to be launching our second campaign of 2019 designed to help people get started in swim, bike and run.
"We are proud of how many people got involved during our Tri January campaign and Tri Summer will provide that next step, with the aim of completing a triathlon distance in their own time.
We genuinely believe that triathlon is for everyone, no matter your shape, size or background. There is simply nothing like being part of the triathlon family, it is such a welcoming community, providing great experiences.
"I hope that anyone interested in getting active this summer gives our Tri Summer campaign a go."
Deborah James, who is best known for being part of the myth-busting podcast You Me and the Big C, is taking part in the summer campaign with her family. She has previously taken part in Tri January and a GO TRI event in Leeds.
"I've always enjoyed keeping fit but since my involvement in the Tri January campaign I've really found a love for riding my bike," James said. "I loved taking part in the campaign and then completing my first GO TRI event in Leeds in June. With the summer holidays just starting, I'm looking forward to getting my family involved in the Tri Summer campaign and getting active together."
