Active Dorset CIC are delighted that their partnership with Bournemouth Council to deliver the comprehensive project at Slades Park is coming to fruition. A 30 year agreement is agreed and significant investment, over £1 million, is being invested to transform the facilities and activity levels in the park.
A new charity has been established, Active Dorset CIO, which will run the activities in the park including 3G pitch, velodrome, grass pitches and Slades Park Pavilion. The charity has independent trustees and objectives which aim to increase participation in sport and physical activity, improve health and well-being, and deliver high quality accessible community projects.
The CIO also aims to identify underused spaces which provide opportunities for promoting active lifestyles, improve peoples' lives by investment in and creation of community spirit, support local individuals to lead and support the delivery of events and physical activity opportunities and to provide facilities and events that engage and stimulate the community into becoming regularly active more often.
The charity will reinvest all surpluses raised at Slades Park back into Slades Park and is determined to see a constant improvement of the facilities and activities available there.
The new Pavilion will open formally on May 27th but we hope will be available before then. On the 30th March there is a public consultation event being held in the community hall, please come and share your thoughts with us as these will shape how the building and park are managed.
