The charity will focus on enhancing local facilities so that they are relevant for local people and sustainable for the long term.
Active Dorset CIO are currently developing the physical activity offerings at Slades Park working closely alongside Bournemouth Borough Council. The sports pavilion that had been a target for vandalism has been knocked down and a new modular building, Slades Pavilion, will arrive at the park Friday 15thJune.
Slades Pavilion, which is scheduled to open to the public Autumn 2018 following an internal fit out, will be run by Active Dorset and will have a community space, refreshments and toilet facilities, and will welcome all members of the community to use when visiting the park.
Martin Kimberley, Chief Executive of Active Dorset CIO commented; "We are delighted that our partnership with Bournemouth Council, local residents and organisations has led to some really exciting developments at Slades Park. The new facilities and focus on developing opportunities for local people will transform the park and its use. We look forward to working with local people to shape the future of the Park."
Currently, Active Dorset CIO work in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council to manage the Olympic-sized Bournemouth Velodrome that sits within Slades Park. Future plans for the CIO at the park include the introduction of a full sized floodlit 3G football pitch and improvements to the grass pitches on site.
Active Dorset CIO will focus on enhancing local facilities so that they are relevant for local people and sustainable for the long term. All revenue and surpluses raised at Slades Park will be re-invested to support the delivery of activity or to enhance facilities at the site and encourage a more active and healthy community.
