AFC Bournemouth and Brockenhurst College launch new Female Elite Player Programme
Posted: Fri, 27 Apr 2018 08:15
Female football players will be able to make the most of their talents, thanks to an exciting new partnership between AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and Brockenhurst College, starting in the new 2018/19 Academic year.
The new initiative will offer talented female players the opportunity to study, train and play! Students on the programme will have the opportunity to study BTEC Diploma in Sport or a variety of A level courses at the College in the New Forest, whilst training every day and representing AFC Bournemouth in weekly fixtures.
Steve Cuss, AFC Bournemouth Head of Community: 'The programme offers an opportunity for talented aspiring footballers to study full-time whilst representing the Club on a weekly basis. The programme will allow players to play for their current Clubs, although given our engagement with players we would hope that many will progress into our existing Ladies teams, and we expect many students to come through our current female Youth teams. This exciting programme allows the Female pathway that we offer to expand – ultimately enhancing the playing opportunities afforded to our players!'
Clare Hicks, Brockenhurst College Head of Curriculum (Sport): 'We are delighted to be involved in this programme and are excited to offer the up and coming female players in the area an excellent education alongside their Club football provision.'
Trials are due to take place at Brockenhurst College on Saturday 5 May 2018 (10am – 12pm) and Monday 14 May 2018 (630pm - 8pm).
