Over 900 students set to participate in the Dorset School Games Finals

On Wednesday 5th April LeAF Academy School will be hosting the Dorset Winter School Games Finals 2017. Over 900 students will participate in handball, rugby and volleyball competitions.

Active Dorset work in partnership with the Local Organising Committee, School Games Organisers, Local Authorities and National Governing Bodies of Sport to deliver a calendar of sporting activities which take place throughout the school year, culminating at the Winter & Summer finals.

The day will begin with an opening ceremony which will feature a motivational speech from Volleyball sensation Kirk Pitman, who represented New Zealand for 10 years on the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Tour. Kirk is currently the Head Coach for England Senior Men's Beach Volleyball team who are currently preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia 2018.

Kirk commented about the event; " I am really looking forward to seeing the local young talent in action at the Dorset School Games. It will be an amazing opportunity for them to compete for their school."

The School Games is an exciting, fully inclusive competition for school children in England, designed to motivate, enthuse and inspire young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.
