Local Charity, the Shine Project, in partnership with BH Live, will be running a well-being event for young teenage girls at Bournemouth Pavilion on Monday 12 June 2017.
The Shine Project, an established charity that has been running for 10 years, decided to pilot an event in the hopes of reaching more of the local teenage population than ever before with the message of their inherent value and equip them with the tools to improve their physical and mental well-being.
25 free spaces for girls in years 7, 8 or 9 have been offered to all the schools across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. These girls will be given the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops, including mindfulness sessions, creative arts, dance and more. Drama workshops focusing on building confidence through performance will also be provided by BH Live's educational team.
There will be stands from all the different charities and businesses that help to promote physical and mental well-being, signposting the girls to the many different organisations available to them. A reflective space will be set up where the girls can take some time to receive a hand massage, partake in mindfulness or just relax in a quiet space.
This unique event is only possible because the local schools, businesses and charities have united to work in partnership to improve the lives of young women across the conurbation.
At Shine, we are so excited to have our vision of seeing every young woman believe that she is valuable, has skills and talents to offer, understands her ability to make good choices and discover the unique beauty in herself and others unencumbered by societies preconceptions come one step closer to a reality.
The Shine project aims to provide, support, friendship and encouragement to young teenage girls. Using a variety of different approaches, Shine equips girls with the knowledge that they and others are unique, valuable and beautiful. The Shine Project also encourages them to have a positive outlook on their present and future.
