About School Sport Development Officer

The Northampton School Sport Partnership is a well established and respected School Sports Partnership, with a strong host school in Northampton Academy. Part of the county school sports model, the partnership plays a key role in Northamptonshire Sport's overall approach to engaging children in the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle.

The post holder will work closely with the School Sport Manager for the SSP, building on local commitment and positivity to ensure the delivery of the School Games programme to local schools. S/he will oversee a comprehensive school sport calendar, liaising with partner schools, as well as developing the local workforce, contributing to the delivery of the School Games Organiser task list and expanding the provision of opportunities to improve young people's health and wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and project management skills, be an excellent communicator with both adults and children and have a sound understanding of education and the school sport system. A teaching qualification would be an advantage, although it is not essential.

The job is offered on a 37 hour per week basis, working term time only. Due to the current funding arrangements, the post is offered on a fixed term basis, currently until July 2020 and any continuation of the post will be subject to further funding from central government. The main office will be at Northampton Academy in Northampton and at least 1 day a week at the central office of Northamptonshire Sport, currently situated in Northampton town centre. Only under exceptional circumstances will the successful candidate start anywhere other than the first point of the salary grade. Please note that the annual salary is advertised as £24,873 - £28,340 pro rota, so the actual salary is £20,819 - £23,721
