Grade/Salary Range

£22,000 - £25,000 pa (full-time 37.5 hrs per week)

Job Purpose

  1. Work closely with the Sport in Mind team to manage and coordinate sport and physical activity sessions for adults with mental health conditions across the South East.

Designation of Post and Position within Service

  1. Responsible to Sport in Mind's Development Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Set up high quality sport and physical activity sessions for service users, maintaining the highly regarded reputation that the charity has gained.
  2. Work closely with external partners to support the development of the sessions and gain referrals/participants for activities.
  3. Recruit and manage highly qualified sports coaches and physical activity leaders to lead motivational and fun sessions for service users.
  4. Recruit and manage volunteers to support the running of sessions.
  5. Ensure all staff and volunteers have completed DBS's checks and adhere to the Sport in Mind policies and procedures.
  6. Provide a supportive and informative practices for people accessing sessions, empowering them to attend (e.g. send a map, address, provide participant forms, explain what to expect on arrival, make staff aware of new arrivals, and follow up on experience).
  7. Complete and ensure all service users have completed relevant and necessary paperwork and that comply to GDPR
  8. Prepare and organise equipment needed for sessions.
  9. Organise and manage bookings (e.g. leisure centres, community centres, meeting hires).
  10. Carry out robust risk assessments for each session and update accordingly and/or annually.
  11. Update information for communication materials (e.g. posters, leaflets, newsletters and website) to publicise sessions.
  12. Set up working groups and gain insight from people with lived mental health conditions.
  13. Organise workshops and training where required for volunteers and staff.
  14. Be responsible for money handling (e.g. cashing cheques, collecting and delivering money pots).
  15. Complete data entry for sessions. Ensuring all relevant data is collected for each funding body.
  16. Attend and support internal and external events when appropriate and necessary.
  17. Support with ad-hock charitable matters.
  18. Be committed to good practice and ensure familiarity with all Sport in Mind policies and procedures (e.g. health and safety, confidentiality and safeguarding)

Scope of Job (Budgetary/Resource Control/Impact)

  1. To initiate financial orders (up to £1,000) and maintain an organised budget record of invoices/transfers.

Specific Working Requirements

  1. Based in Reading Office 2 days a week and in areas of development for 3 days.
  2. Able to work unsocial hours including weekend, bank holidays and occasional evenings where appropriate.
  3. Must bring a positive and enthusiastic image to the service you provide.
  4. Commitment to policies and procedures including equal opportunities.
  5. Willing and able to travel to different locations across Berkshire if necessary on an ad-hock basis.
