About School Sport Development Officer

It is an exciting time for the Kettering School Sport Partnership with a new host school and the area becoming part of the overall approach to school sport in the county of Northamptonshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to help our children and young people to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

The post holder will build on local commitment and positivity to ensure the delivery of the School Games programme to all schools. S/he will oversee a comprehensive competitive school sport calendar, liaise with partner schools, develop the local workforce, deliver the School Games Organiser task list, expand the provision of opportunities to improve young people's health and wellbeing and work with schools to ensure that the PE and School Sport Premium is being utilised effectively.

The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and project management skills, be an excellent communicator with both adults and children and have a sound understanding of education and the school sport system. A teaching qualification would be an advantage, although it is not essential.

The job is offered on a 37 hour per week basis, working term time only. The main office will be at Bishop Stopford School in Kettering with at least 1 day a week at the central office of Northamptonshire Sport, currently situated in Northampton town centre. Only under exceptional circumstances will the successful candidate start anywhere other than the first point of the salary grade. Shortlisting for the post will be undertaken in week commencing the 22nd April 2019, with interviews held week commencing 29th April 2019.
