Whole System Change
Active Dorset takes a collaborative approach to embed system changes so that business as usual for system partners supports people to be more active.
We want sport and physical activity to be recognised for the positive impact it has through improved physical and mental wellbeing, educational attainment, social cohesion and economic development on the lives of the people in Dorset.
Active Dorset Strategy 2020-2025
We are delighted to be able to share our 2020–2025 strategy which sets out how we intend to positively impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of Dorset residents.
We have seen that our greatest impact is often where we work with system partners to improve existing ways of working so that physical activity becomes embedded as business as usual and we aim to do more of this over the next period.
Our focus will remain on those who are the least active as that is where change can have the greatest positive effect. We will work and support our partners and stakeholders to use physical activity to achieve their priorities.

Community Interest Company
Community Interest Companies (CICs) are limited companies with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
Active Dorset's registration as a CIC in June 2009 was approved by the Regulator who also has a continuing monitoring and enforcement role.
Our company objectives are:
To promote, and act as a strategic lead among organisations in the promotion of participation and engagement in sport and physical activity amongst the population within the geographic area of the county of Dorset.
Active Dorset will provide benefit to the population of the geographic county of Dorset, in particular those with an aspiration to become, or who are currently engaged in sport or physical activity.
