Outdoor and Adventurous Activities for Key Stages 1&2

Location: Moreton Village Hall, Moreton, Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 8RE

This is a practical course which takes the participant through a range of activities, using resources already available in schools. Participants will explore how a limited outdoor space does not need to limit activities. The course will reveal how trails, problem solving, team building and orienteering activities can be organised, delivered, extended and progressed within the school environment.

Ideal for teachers, HLTA's and TA's involved in supporting the delivery of Physical Education, physical activity and school sport.

British Para-Swimming International Meet

The British Para-Swimming International Meet is the highlight of the domestic para-swimming events calendar. The event is one of the largest open competitions for para-swimming and will attract teams from all over the world. As British Swimming enters a new Paralympic cycle, athletes will be taking to the pool again for the title of British Champion. Races will take place over four days with heat sessions taking place in the morning and finals in the evening.

Tour de Yorkshire: Stage 1

Location: Bridlington Spa, YO15 3JH

Stage One gets underway outside Bridlington Spa and heads into Pocklington for the first intermediate sprint. The classified climbs up the Côte de Garrowby Hill and Côte de Goathland will get the legs pumping before the race hits the coastline again at Whitby, and the riders will get a great view of the Abbey as they contest the second sprint of the day. The route continues on to Robin Hood’s Bay for the third and final climb and then it’s full steam into Scarborough for the now-legendary finish along North Bay.

Tour de Yorkshire: Stage 2

Location: Tadcaster Bridge, LS24 9AH

On Stage Two, men and women will face exactly the same stage which starts in Tadcaster. The action commences on the newly-reopened Tadcaster Bridge and ventures into Knaresborough where the first intermediate sprint points are up for grabs. The sole categorised climb comes on the Côte de Lofthouse and then it’s on to Ripon for the second intermediate sprint. The race will skirt Fountains Abbey before a fast approach to Harrogate, and the action will reach its crescendo along Parliament Street, just as it did on the opening stage of the 2014 Tour de France.

Tour de Yorkshire: Stage 3

Location: Bradford City Park, BD1 1HY

On Stage Three The riders roll out of City Park in Bradford and take in Salts Mill before the start flag is lowered. The action then heads to Burley-in-Wharfedale before passing into the Yorkshire Dales. Skipton is the next town on the agenda, with the first of eight categorised climbs. The next ascent comes on Haworth’s main street and another climb at Leeming before the Côte de Shibden Wall, followed by a sprint in Stocksbridge. Riders then embark on a 22km finishing circuit before the race reaches its climax at Fox Valley.

Badminton Horse Trials

Wednesday is the first day of the ticketed event with our array of over 500 tradestands opening for business, the International competition kicking off with the horse inspection in the afternoon as well as the cross country culmination of the ‘amateur’ eventing competition of the Mitsubishi Motors Cup. The event continues with Dressage on the Thursday and Friday before the thrills and spills of the Cross Country phase on the Saturday. Sunday is the culmination of the competition and is a Show Jumping test over knock down arena jumps.
