Active Dorset is commited to support clubs in their development and arranges generic courses throughout the year run by tutors from Sports Coach UK and Running Sports. We also liaise with Bournemouth University's Sport and Recreation Department to ensure, betwen us, there are enough courses to meet the demand covering the county. If clubs wish to put on a specific course solely for their coaches and volunteers it may be possible for Active Dorset to arrange this subject to minimum numbers.
Clubmark is now the goal for clubs with junior sections as it signifies the good practices needed to ensure a safe, child friendly and fun environment.
Most NGBs have their own version of Clubmark and will support their clubs through the process but Active Dorset has applied to become a licensing body for accreditation and hope to have achieved this by the end of summer 2010. We will then be able to support clubs affiliated to NGBs recognised by Sport England and where the NGB does not have its own version of Clubmark.
