Sportivate is part of the mass participation legacy programme called Places, People, Play aimed at establishing a lasting legacy from the 2012 Olympics.
The new Sportivate initiative is aimed at engaging with young people aged 14 to 25 who wouldn’t normally participate in sport and physical activity, offering them a programme of six activity sessions.
Active Dorset can now announce that Dorset has been awarded £100,330 per year (2011-14) years to roll out the Sportivate initiative.
In brief, below is an outline of the Sportivate targets, in terms of people, sporting activity and session details.
TARGET GROUPS
Semi-sporty, 14-25 year olds. Target groups/participants to reflect local demography.
SPORTS
Sportivate is set to be more sport-orientated than Sport Unlimited; i.e. sport as opposed to physical activity. NGB involvement wherever possible.
